The Farmer

This lovely gent was game enough to let a mob of photographers from the AIPP Event come along and photograph him on a farm in Palmwoods as part of a workshop by Robert Billington, a successful Australian photographer still working with film – you remember that stuff don’t you? Anyway he was shooting with a lovely old hassleblad, while the rest of us clicked away with our digitals….

Anyways, I was just sorting through my external hard drives and found these photos – forgotten in the avalanche – and thought they were kinda special. He was a genuine farmer, he drove an hour to meet us there there on that beautiful location and got paid with a bottle of rum. It was refreshing to get out of the air-conditioned conference rooms and do some photography again, even if it felt like we were a hoard of paparazzi at the time, jostling for the best shot….
